This porcelain tub and tile may look hopeless, but it can be refinished to a beautiful new look quickly and inexpensively.
Surface Preparation
First, a technician prepares surfaces for reglazing by carefully cleaning, repairing, sanding, etching, and masking. This is the most important step. Proper preparation is the key to a quality job. Our technicians are trained to take their time and do it the right way...the CALbath way.
Priming
Next, the technician primes the surfaces before application of topcoats. This is a self etching primer that bonds into the glazed ceramic or porcelain. This is yet another feature that adds to the beauty and durability of our product.
Topcoat Applied
With surface preparation completed, the technician now applies the topcoat layer by layer. This coating is allowed to cure for 24 hours before removal of masking. New bathtub fixtures add the finishing touch.
Refinishing Benefits
The end product is a beautifully refinished bathtub or shower stall, which is very, durable, for approximately one third the cost of a replacement bath
Etching Process
CALbath Commercial uses a specialized etching process for long-term bathtub refinishing. The process applies a thin and durable coat to existing bathtub surfaces and uses a stabilized, safe etching primer solution applied to porcelain or ceramic surfaces that maximizes a permanent bond to the original underlying layer. All surfaces - fiberglass, acrylic, or other substrates - are thoroughly treated to amplify the adhesion.
Primer
CALbath Commercial uses a special underwater primer epoxy adhesive that permanently sticks to the substrate using a molecular bonding process. This unique process dramatically extends the life of treated surfaces.
Acrylic Poly-urethane
Bathtub refinishes that provide long life and durability are what you get with acrylic urethane topcoats. CALbath Commercial cosmetic acrylic, poly urethane topcoats provide high-gloss, impact and scuff-resistant protection against acids and solvents. Acrylic urethane refinishing is a cost-effective and effective approach to extending the life of your bathtub or shower.
